Not sure he had a pet rat. He did sing the title song "Ben" for a movie about a rat, but he didn't star in the movie.

--> I remember an interview with Michael Jackson's family. I believe it was Michael's mother who, in said interview, talks about the song Ben and the fact that Michael used to have a pet rat himself. Don't know what the name of that pet rat was though...

He did not write the song. It was written by Don Black and Walter Scharf for the 1972 movie "Ben", a sequel to a movie "Willard". The track was initially intended for Donny Osmond. If he had a rat named Ben, it had no ties to the song other than to be named after it. There is a lot of media spin by the family and I doubt much of it is to be believed.

There is no record of Michael Jackson having a pet rat. Michael sang the song 'Ben' which was written by Don Black and Walter Scharf for the film of the same name, which was released in 1972 and is a Horror sequel to 'Willard', telling the story of a boy and his pet rat. The song was originally offered to Donny Osmond but he was unavailable for recording.

Yes. In the movie, "The Jacksons: An American Dream", it shows the scene where Joe had set up mouse traps in the home, and Michael's mouse had gotten killed.
