According to Robert Palmer himself in interviews, his close friends, and his family members, Geraldine Edwards was his girlfriend at the time of his death. She had been his girlfriend since Palmer's divorce from Susan in 1999. Mary Ambrose was a woman who casually dated Robert Palmer from 2000 to 2003 and who worked for Palmer as his Estate Manager and his Personal Assistant for that same period of years. According to Peter Bascombe, a close Palmer friend, as well as others that knew Palmer, Mary Ambrose was definintely not considered Robert Palmer's girlfriend. Mary Ambrose even had two children from friends and acquaintances of Robert Palmer while employed by him and dating him. One Palmer friend, Leo Stapleton, who also worked with Palmer professionally, stated publicly that Palmer referred to Mary Ambrose as "the arrangement" because she was simply there, not unlike Mt. Everest. He did not consider her his primary relationship. Palmer had met Mary Ambrose socially in 1995 at a party in San Diego, California. How her name came to be attached to the obituaries was because Robert Palmer's manager, Mick Carter, announced Mary Ambroses' name to the press as Robert Palmer's girlfriend in error. The press then reported Ambroses' name upon Carter's word. Carter was very fond of Mary Ambrose and in fact had a child with her in 2001. His excuse to one one Palmer friend, Joey Faahar, was "I felt that I should do it for Mary. She loved him so much. And she did live with him." When Faahar pointed out that she lived with him as his Estate Manager and Personal Assistant, Carter replied "That doesn't matter. She was living there." Shortly thereafter, Carter was legally enjoined from announcing Mary Ambrose as Robert Palmer's girlfriend, but he had caused a tremendous amount of upset and confusion in the meanwhile.

Is it true that Tina Ann Hart the rock violinist and back-up singer dubbed over Mary Ambroses unusable contributions on Robert Palmers Drive and where may I see a picture of her?

It is true that Tina Ann Hart dubbed over Mary Ambrose's unusable contributions on Drive. She attempted to sing back-up on the project and was allowed to to so as a favor by Robert Palmer, who she dated on and off and worked for as his estate manager. Apparently after several valiant attempts it became obvious her tracks were not going to work and Tina Ann Hart was brought in to re-do the back-up portion of the recording. Sharon O'Neill also contributed back-up on a couple of the tracks. Mary Ambrose's contributions were described as flat and tone deaf. Ambrose was not a professional singer. By the time the redone version of the recordings were submitted for release it was too late for credits to be reprinted and the CD went out giving credit for the back-up singing to Mary Ambrose. In 1999, when Robert Palmer had allowed Mary Ambrose to participate on Rhythm & Blues, the same thing happened. Sharon O'Neill had to dub over her parts exclusively in that case. Although Mary Ambrose received credit on that release, none of her work actually appears on it. You would be able to see a picture of Tina Ann Hart on wn.com Robert Palmer Singer. Tina Ann Hart is the beautiful singer on the left backing up Robert Palmer. By all accounts, she was a personal friend of Robert Palmer for years and backed him up in many of his performances as well as on his recordings anonymously or otherwise.

Why did Mary Ambrose Robert Palmers ex girlfriend tell the press that her deceased eighty-five year old Uncle Stanley Ambrose was her father and that some of her cousins were her siblings?

According to Michael Ambrose, Mary Ambrose's sole sibling, his sister used the name of her now deceased uncle, Stanley Ambrose, as her father, to impede those who were looking into her background. According to Michael Ambrose, his sister had "rewritten" her past so to speak, in an attempt to include herself in the late Robert Palmer's life for a longer period of time by altering her age to make herself appear older and to keep interested parties from finding out about some of her actions that did not represent her well, including criminal convictions, etc. Unfortunately, Mary Ambrose's plan backfired in her using her late uncles name as her father when an enterprising reporter from the London Observer made contact with Stanley Ambrose prior to his death to ask questions about his "daughter" Mary Ambrose in late 2011. According to Harvey Ambrose, another uncle of Mary Ambrose, and the brother of the late Stanley Ambrose, a reporter had somehow gotten the phone number of Stanley Ambrose and started to pepper him with questions about his "daughter" Mary Ambrose. Stanley Ambrose was baffled as to why this reporter thought his neice was his daughter and he advised the reporter of the actual facts of the situation. Stanley Ambrose told the reporter that Mary Ambrose was the daughter of his half-brother, Michael Ambrose, Sr., who was now deceased. He kindly informed the reporter that his father remarried when he was ten years old and that Michael Ambrose Sr., was born soon thereafter, reiterating that Mary Ambrose was this man's eldest child and only daughter, born in 1977. The reporter then inquired if he was close to Mary Ambrose's siblings, William, Tommy, Susan, Stanley and Christine. By this point Stanley Ambrose, who was elderly, was really confused. He told the reporter that his childrens' names were William, Tommy, Susan and Stanley, but that they were Mary Ambroses' cousins, not her siblings. He informed the reporter that Mary Ambrose only had one brother named Michael Ambrose, Jr. . The last question the reporter asked Stanley Ambrose was if Christine Ambrose, the artist, was any relation to their family. Stanley Ambrose told the reporter that to the best of his knowledge, he had no relative by the name of Christine Ambrose. At this time, the reporter thanked Stanley Ambrose for his time and told him that he was going to abandon the article he was planning on writing about Mary Ambrose. Acording to Harvey Ambrose, his brother then asked his two children who were still alive, Susan and William, what was going on. His two sons, Stanley Jr. and Tommy were deceased. They told him that they had no idea what was going on with the situation or why Mary Ambrose was telling the press she was his daughter. In realty, they were hoping that their father would never hear about Mary Ambrose referring to herself as their father's daughter as they had given Mary Ambrose their permission to attach herself to them as a sister for the edification of the press and the public. Insomuch as their father was legally blind, he never actually read any stories regarding Mary Ambrose listing him as her father. They truly believed he would never find out about the arrangement they had made with their cousin, although in the end he did find out.
