Dallas disc jockey and record promoter Bill Mack managed to get her signed with Curb Records in 1995 after the studio heard her sing Blue which was penned by Bill Mack. The single Blue made it to #10 on the Billboard charts in 1996. Her 1st album, also titled Blue, sold 123,000 copies in its first week in 1996, the highest figure in SoundScan history up to that time, and debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.
