How did Fr John Powell SJ Die?

I was told He suffered from Alzheimers. He was a jerk. A horrible man.

He was about 84 years old. He died of old age. Yes, he was a sinner like all of us (and we ought not 'judge' and leave that to God).

Despite his sins, Father John Powell was a famous speaker and both a prolific and excellent 'self-help' writer. He wrote many very helpful books on the various aspects of love, loving, and human relationships, and was the creator of "Vision" therapy (see his book: Fully Human and Fully Alive; (c)1976). He also wrote on the matters of theology from the Catholic view.
