The amount of oxygen in the atmosphere increased.
Until then carbon dioxide had been present in huge quantities in the atmosphere, while oxygen would have been extremely rare. Photosynthesis uses up carbon dioxide and releases oxygen so the proportion of oxygen would have increased dramatically, paving the way for oxygen-breathing life-forms.

What carries most of the photosynthesis on earth?

Most of Earth's photosynthesis is carried out in the ocean by organisms in the Protist Kingdom: seaweed, diatoms, etc.

When did the first colonial organisms appear on earth?

Do plants photosynthesize or cellular respirate?

This is kind of a guess, but I would say photosynthesis since some of the first organisms on earth were bacteria that did photosynthesis.

Would life on earth would be possible in the absence of photosynthesis?

Can't, it's a false statement. Live existed for > billion years before photosynthesis.

Why are photosynthesis organisms such as plants so important to life on earth?

Because it is food producing process for all. Also it gives organisms Oxygen

Can the earth support a 100 billion people?

In the near future, if we create chloroplasts for human photosynthesis, then we don't have to eat food anymore. In this case, the earth maybe able to support 100 billion people.

What is the earth changes during 4 billion years?

Landforms change.

Which process brings energy to the biosphere?

Respiration supplies energy for organisms on Earth. Respiration can either be photosynthesis in plants and fungi or cellular respiration in animals.

How might photosynthesis help flourish life on earth?

Oxygen is the main component of carbon dioxide, which plants use in photosynthesis. Oxygen is a by-product of photosynthesis. Oxygen is the element that makes most life, plant and animal, possible on Earth. So, photosynthesis not only helps life to flourish. For most organisms, it makes life possible.

What came first oxygen or life?

Life came first. The oxygen in Earth's atmosphere is a product of living organisms carrying out photosynthesis.

When did oxygen levels start to rise on Earth?

After the earth was created, there was just one gigantic ocean. At some point, single-celled organisms formed - the first plants. They made their own energy using the sun and carbon doixide (photosynthesis) and one of the waste products was oxygen. As they multiplied, more and more oxygen was produced, forming the start of today's atmosphere.
