Rubeus Hagrid was expelled in his third year because, he bought a spider that would grow up to be HUGE and then he and his spider got blamed for the opening of Chamber of Secrets the 1st (recorded) time, when it wasn't him but his class mate Tom Riddle AKA Voldemort. Plus him being a reckless student & half giant didn't help him a in fact it made more people expect it was him.

∙ 12y agoHagrid was expelled from Hogwarts School of Witch Craft and Wizardry because he had been blamed for opening the Chamber of Secrets and making the monster kill a young girlwhile he was at school. Hagrid had not opened the Chamber of Secrets, but had been framed by Tom Riddle (Voldemort) the heir of Slytherin. Voldemort had been the one who'd opened the Chamber of Secrets while he was at school, and blamed Hagrid so he (tom) would not get in trouble.

∙ 13y agoHagrid was expelled from Hogwarts because he was set up from Tom Riddle (the young Lord Voldemort) as the person who opened the Chamber of Secrets. Because the chamber held a monster (Hagrid loves monsters)that killed a girl (Moaning Myrtle) and Tom Riddle was an ideal student, no one suspected Tom himself and Hagrid was the one who got in trouble.

∙ 12y agoI DON'T KNOW! ... but i do know that he got expelled on his sixth year at hogwarts because voldemort mad a rule no muggle-borns can go to hagwarts but it is strange that hermione did not get expelled and if colin got expelled hermione would have because colin left on his 6th year so harry ron and hermione is one year ahead and thay would have bin in there 7th year still in hagwarts

He was expelled because he used magic outside of Hogwarts to protect Dudley and himself from dementors.
