They ALMOST kissed.
At the end of vol. 9, Rei and Aya went out on a Christmas date. (Rei was the one who asked her out, of course). Aya gave Rei a necklace with a heart chrome as a Christmas present (since she has Rei's) but as usual Rei came empty-handed. Rei asked Aya if there was something she wanted since he didn't have a present for her. But Aya said that he doesn't really need to. Instead, she just wants to confess one more time her feelings for him. Rei was speechless of course (the whole time Aya confessed to him again). He couldn't find words to answer Aya's confession but in lieu of that, he attempted to kiss her! And they were even so close to kissing!!!
(sighs) but they didn't get to (well, more like Rei didn't get to kiss Aya) due to the fact of Naoki, who had a crush on Aya at that time, interrupting their moment!
So there you have it. Just an almost-kissed between Rei and Aya. But no worries, they still ended up with each other in the end.
