well...it is an awkard part in the book, the only part i remember her getting bruised by edward is on their honeymoon...when edward bites a pillow cuz he is mad that he bruised bella, while they were...in bed...if you know what i mean...

∙ 13y agoThey have sex on there honeymoon and Edward got carried away he tore all the pillows and bed sheets. He held her down to hard not on purpose just its hard to be careful not to harm a human during-he gets more gentle tho as they have more sex.

What does edward try to protect Bella from?
Just from getting hurt. Since she is a human, Edward sees Bella are being very breakable (at least compared to a vampire who is indestructible). And considering how clumsy Bella is, there are a lot of times when Bella could get hurt. Plus, there were also the nomadic vampires to consider (James, Laurent, and Vistoria) who were after Bella. Edward tries to protect Bella from things like that.
