I've seen the making of of the first Childs Play, where Chucky was an Animatronic, which means a mix between robot and puppet, invented by Disney Studios and Jim Henson Productions. Brad Dourif mad the voice over for Chucky before they made the movie and then they synchronised the puppet, when Dourif wasn't even on set. I think that they made also Tiffany the same in the movie Seed of Chucky. So they animatronics of Chucky and Tiffany coulnd't speak, they were synchronised.
He can only die if shot in the heart, he only came back to real life in the second movie because Mattson had Chucky reconstructed in order to save his company.
Chucky from the movie Child's Play does what Chucky does best, and that is murdering people of course.
