What is the proper method to install a clean out in an existing clay sewer line?

To install a clean out in an existing clay sewer line, follow these steps. First, locate the section of the clay sewer line where you want to install the clean out, ensuring it is accessible and does not interfere with any structural elements. Next, carefully cut and remove a section of the clay pipe to make room for the clean out. Install the clean out fitting according to the manufacturer's instructions, making sure it is securely connected using appropriate sealants or couplings. Finally, test the installation for any leaks or issues before covering the area with soil or concrete.

How do you replace your sewer line?

The way you ask this question is too broad. Which part of your sewer pipe needs replacing? Exposed pipe in your basement or crawlspace is too simple for you to be asking about. If you mean the sewer pipe that connects your house to the city sewer (generally under the street) you have a big task. Depending on what part of the country you are in, this section of your sewer pipe can be anywhere between 4 feet and 20 feet deep. In either case you'll need a backhoe to dig it up.

What problems might occur if I don't keep my sewer lines clean?

The obvious and main problem (and reason to keep your sewer lines clean) is because a backed-up sewer line means that sewage can get backed up into sinks and bathtubs. This is unsanitary and a health hazard. A broken sewage line is costly to repair.
