They began dating in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince when Harry was in sixth year and Ginny in fifth. They split up at the end of the year because Harry wanted to make sure Voldemort didn't target her. After the battle, they got back together again. At some point they married and had three children named James Sirius, Albus Severus and Lily Luna Potter.
They started going out in kinda the end of HP and the Half-Blood Prince, but Harry breaks up with Ginny to make sure Voldemort doesn't use her to get through to Harry. She was devastated, but accepted his decision. So, they broke up even though the still liked each other.
