I remember when I first started dating as a teenager. It was an exciting time, being young and falling in love. Of course, first love can also be painful, but that's all a part of life. You learn from it and keep moving on.

I'm very particular in who I date these days. I don't just go out with anyone. If I decide to go out with a guy, I have to really like him. I look for someone that's laid back, easy to get along with, easy to talk to. I just like easy-going people, especially during the WNBA season, because I'm so tired that I usually just want to hang out.

To some degree I have to be cautious, because I don't know if guys are interested in me because I play Basketball and am sort of a celebrity. I can't imagine how difficult dating must be for big stars like famous actresses or performers. Actually, the last two guys I've dated have been professional athletes, so I knew that they were in the same boat I am.

My biggest piece of advice is to be comfortable with yourself and who you are.

You have to understand what you want and what you're looking for. You shouldn't settle for anything else and you definitely shouldn't let yourself be persuaded into being in a relationship you don't want to be in, or into doing anything you don't want to do.

As a teenager, you have a lot of hormones and different things going on. You're excited about dating, but it can be pretty serious at times. You need to always respect yourself and your body, and don't let anyone take advantage of you. And you need to have positive self-esteem about yourself.

But I think the key to dating is having fun. It's a time to get to meet and know different people, and make new friends. So have fun with it and be smart.
