That nothing can overpower love. Peeta's and Katniss's love was so strong that they managed to twist the rules and both of them were able to live.

In the very end, though, she upsets The Capitol by tricking it into letting both her and Peeta live. The thing that keeps The Capitol from killing her for her insubordination is the fact that they can try to convince the crowd that they orchestrated the whole event, and that Katniss and Peeta were so in love that they would rather have died then kill the other.
