George Burns (January 20, 1896 - March 9, 1996), born Nathan Birnbaum, adopted two children as Gracie had a congenital heart problem and was advised against trying to go through a pregnancy.

Daughter Sandra Jean Burns Lockman (b. 1934-d.2010; adopted 1934) had four daughters of her own who were raised in San Diego, California.

Son Ronnie Jon Burns (b. 1935-d. 2007; adopted 1935) had 3 children, who were raised in the Los Angeles, California area, and 6 grandchildren.

Because of their long-time celebrity, the families enjoy living quiet lives. It is thought that all the seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren reside in California.
