Oh, there are no mistakes, just happy accidents in the world of Harry Potter! Draco Malfoy and his father, Lucius, both survived the events of the series. Everyone deserves a second chance to make things right, just like how a little bit of paint can transform a blank canvas into a beautiful masterpiece.

In the Harry Potter series, Draco Malfoy and his father, Lucius Malfoy, do not die. They both survive the events of the series, although they face consequences for their actions as Death Eaters and supporters of Voldemort. Draco ultimately chooses not to continue his family's dark path and seeks redemption.

Lucius Malfoy's death is never brought up in any of the books. He was not imprisoned after the final battle due to Harry not testifying against either Malfoy Sr. or Narcissa in court due to the change of heart they both had during the final battle. That is really all that's said about what became of him.

Lucius and family defected against Voldemort, and fought against him near to the end of the Second Wizarding War. Due to this, all of them were pardoned from their previous actions. We see both Draco Malfoy and his son Scorpius at platform 9 and 3/4's at the end of the final book, Lucius is not seen, but assumedly alive and well.
