They briefly dated in 1930; however, nothing serious developed out of the relationship. In Ginger Rogers' autobiography, it mentions had she stayed in New York and not left for Hollywood when she did, something more serious had the potential of developing, but Fred remained in NYC for a few more years before going to Hollywood. He and Ginger were united again in 1933 when they began the series of 9 films together. Throughout their lifetime, they maintained a friendship, but nothing more than that.
