Billy Corgan played almost all of Darcy Wretzky and most of James Ihas parts on albums due to the request of producer Butch Vig who realized recording any album with Wretzky and Iha would take infinitly longer than just letting Corgans superior musicianship take over. Drummer Jimmy Chamberlin is quoted as saying that while James and Darcy looked cool enough to play their instruments it was Billy and I that really could. Billy Corgan eluded to the fact that Iha and Darcy were incompetent musicians while being interviewed on the Chris Isaak show.
