Yes, on June 14th, 1943 Anna Kreisling received orders from Adolf Hitler that Rommel was to be brought to Berlin to advise the Fuerher. Rommel at this time was surrounded in North Africa and the chances of him being captured by the British were very likely. Anna immediately flew to Rome looking for a suitable plane to fly him out. All that was available was a FIAT twin-engined bomber, a BR-20. On January 20th Anna was approaching the coast of Libya when her plane was jumped by 12 British P-40 Fighters! In the ensuing dogfight Anna crash landed ten miles inside the German lines, both her gunners were killed and her plane a total wreck. She was taken to meet Field Marshall Rommel who explained to her that escape was impossible. Anna Kreisling showed Rommel her orders and for the next five days she worked with the wounded and devised a plan. On June 26th 1943 Rommel was dressed as a British Doctor and Anna Kreisling was dressed as a British Nurse! Using a captured Jeep they drove deep into British Territory just outside Tobruk. There Anna spotted a Douglas DC-3 on a runway. Soon Anna had Rommel on board and stole the DC-3 right under the noses of the British Army! Within 24 hours Anna delivered Rommel back to Berlin and Adolf Hitler was grateful for his safe return to Germany!
