The first pre-teen performer to win a competitive Academy Award was Tatum O'Neal, who was 10 years and 148 days old when she received the 1973 Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance in "Paper Moon." It is still a record for the youngest winner in any Oscar category.

Some have been nominated, very few have won.

Tatum O'Neal is the youngest winner ever. She was 10 when she won Best Supporting Actress for her lead role in Paper Moon(1973).

Anna Paquin was 11 when she won Best Supporting Actress for The Piano (1993).

No one else younger than 18 has won an Oscar.

Shirley Temple received a special Oscar when she was 6-years-old. She didn't win because she was never nominated.

They used to give away Juvenile Award, but again, there wasn't a category for it, but was given for young actors and actresses they favored.

Angelina Jolie won Best Supporting Actress for Girl, Interrupted (1999), 21 years after her father won Best Actor for Coming Home (1978). Jane Fonda won Best Actress twice, for Klute (1971) and Coming Home (1978) , before her father won Best Actor for On Golden Pond (1981). Walter Huston won Best Supporting Actor for The Treasure of Sierra Madre (1948), his son John Huston won Best Director for the movie, and John's daughter Anjelica Huston won Best Supporting Actress for Prizzi's Honor (1985), which her father directed. Kirk Douglas received three Academy Award nominations for his work in Champion, The Bad and the Beautiful and Lust for Life. Douglas did not win any competitive Oscars, but received a special Oscar in 1996 for "50 years as a moral and creative force in the motion picture community". Kirk's son, Michael Douglas, is an Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, and two-time Academy Award winner, first as producer of 1975's Best Picture, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Best Actor in 1987 for his role in Wall Street.
