"Make" is the hard word here. Music doesn't FORCE anyone to do anything. But what happens when someone begins to surround himself with music/lyrics that ALWAYS deals with crime, or hate, or hurtful acts against others, or that separates one group as evil, inferior, worthy of being hurt? That person may begin to take on the thoughts of those performers, and maybe without full awareness. We are influenced by each other-- especially when we give up the responsibility to think for ourselves.

no. One kills another would be for other motives, greed, robbery, anger, etc.. Rap may have played a role in gang and young teens but hardly enough to make any sort of case against music. Suicides are depression driven but not gonna blame some slow depression song. The background and mental health of a person are the deciding factors.

Music that is moderately cheerful or that is calm (not morose) would have the effect of lifting the spirits in most people, but never, never should choice of music be the only strategy for someone who is seriously suicidal. It's possible that you could argue music of any kind at all would be helpful; I'm not sure. The person has to be encouraged to talk with some professionals, starting with her/his doctor, and going from there. Friends too need to be in the loop. Don't avoid the 'S' word; you aren't going to plant an idea that isn't already there. Don't just stand by and watch a suicidal friend go down the tubes.

Barber's Adagio for Strings is one of the loveliest pieces of music there is, but cheerful it is not. I would not offer this to a suicidal person.
