Can a light saber be made?

you can make count dooku and Yoda and mace windu and maris brood. p.s. the tonfa handle/maris broods lightsaber dosent work because you cant activate the light saber, unless you put the handle on backwards. trust me, i do it all the time

ANSWER:">ANSWER:A light saber can kind of be made like the ones in Star Wars. To make one today you just get a high powered laser and it will slice through things like a light saber, the problem with that is it will not stop at 3-4ft like a light saber would.

The problem with making a true light saber is that if it were truly a laser the power source required would be massive and the answer above is correct, being light it would continue on as far as the source could project it, light remember, can travel on almost indefinitely.

It's theorized that light sabers are actually plasma contained with in some sort of field. This would solve the infinite beam problem the only thing is the technology to create the light saber has not been developed yet.
