Why are beauty pageants considered by many to be degrading? Well, some people would say that beauty pageants put women on display and judge them based on qualities that men find appealing while simultaneously downplaying the importance of intellect. The interview portion of the Miss America Pageant, for example, is rarely televised or even done before a wide audience; while the "onstage question" is televised, it accounts for only 5% of the total score.
Certainly not! A prestigious and major beauty contest or competition has broader and profound meanings. I got this good answers from www.thegreatqueens.blogspot.com.
What a Beauty Queen is...You may ask, "Just what is a beauty queen?"You know the English language is indeed so rich! Any single word could mean so many different things.
Well, a queen means a wife of a king. The word queen also means a woman who holds a preeminent or outstanding position (superior to all others) in a certain field or domain. A beauty contest champion or winner IS a queen because as the winner, she holds the top and outstanding position in the field of beauty, and she is formally crowned (wears an official crown), bestowed an official scepter, and conferred an official title in a formal process (of election and proclamation) through a national or global contest/competition. Thus, the winner or queen is called a beauty queen.
A beauty queen is a different kind of queen! She is not a political queen like a nation-kingdom queen (monarch). She is not political. But a beauty queen is A SOCIAL QUEEN who functions as a national or international ambassador of goodwill and amity (as well as tourism), as a national/global role model, an environmental advocate, a philanthropist, a humanitarian, etc.
In the world or global scene/society or in GLOBAL SOCIAL STANDING, compared to a monarch (kingdom queen or king) and their counterparts (first lady, president or prime minister), the elected queens in the Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth, Miss International, Mrs. Universe, Mrs. World global competitions are REAL GLOBAL QUEENS (real global persons). Monarchs /royalties (kingdom queens or kings), presidents, or heads of states/countries are NOT. Why? How come?
It's because the election and coronation of a monarch/kingdom queen is only an internal affairs or event of a nation-kingdom (even if it is well-hyped or very publicized through print, broadcast and online media internationally), while the election and coronation of a world beauty queen (Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth, Miss International, Miss Maja International) is TRULY GLOBAL, involving and participated in by so many nations of ALL continents of the entire planet, and watched/witnessed on TV live at the same time by more than 2 billion people worldwide!
A world beauty queen IS a global queen while a nation-kingdom queen (monarch or royalty) is NOT.
Though a world beauty queen reigns for only a year, the size, extent, and scope of her title and position, reign and queenship cover the entire/whole world, global and worldwide (indeed, she is a truly, global queen!); while the reign of a kingdom queen or monarch/royalty is LIMITED to her nation-kingdom or countries-colonies only (not global nor worldwide).
Certainly! Major, National and Global Beauty Contests or Competitions are Necessary and Significant!
The Goodness and Power of BeautyBeauty is defined by the dictionary as anything or any quality that pleases or delights the mind or the senses.Beauty is universal and manifests in so many forms (visible and invisible, physical and nonphysical, tangible and intangible). It is inherent and natural for humans or people of any race or nationality to be drawn to or to prefer, enjoy, and appreciate anything of beauty or anything that has beauty.
Speaking of major, national and global beauty queens who are goddesses (for a goddess means a woman of great beauty, charm or grace) and nonshowbiz celebrities, and are also called beauty stars (for the word star also means a celebrity), they have these important social roles and functions for the country and for the world: as national or international ambassadors of goodwill and amity (as well as tourism), as national or global role models, as environmental advocates, philanthropists, humanitarians, etc.
The prestigious, major national and world beauty competitions-pageants, major beauty queens and the reputable organizations they belong to have good and beautiful, noble and worthy causes and objectives, aims and purposes that are of national and global significance and relevanceto our society/country and to the entire world--to make our planet (home) a better place to live in.
beauty pageants are mostly held by men. the judges are mostly men and they are the judges becuase they want to see which women or girl can be their next girlfriend. they ask the prettiest gril or whichever girl they are in love with and will ask them out backstage. beauty pageants are just another way of men hurting women in bed and then they break up!
Yea lady your definitly sexist to say the least, if you knew about half of what you were saying, you might be helpful. Youve obisoly had some type of emotional problem, i recomend help. Women get all worked up over these kinds of thing because they are not confident in themselfs, i understand its hard for women to look at a beautiful woman and think less of themselfs. Women need to realize that this is just a show, not anyway to insult you. And no most of the judges are female, almost all its a fair pagent most of the time, and its not mens fault that you feel less of yourself, look at yourself for once and be mature.
In every way possible.

yes
A member of a debating school team opposing the ban on beauty contests could argue that they provide a platform for women to showcase their talents and intelligence alongside physical appearance. They could also argue that banning beauty contests would limit individual freedom and choice for participants who willingly participate. Additionally, they may argue that improving the structure and criteria of beauty contests would be more effective than an outright ban.
I know for sure that beauty contests exist.
if it is a beauty contest for cats and/or pets then yes
There were no beauty contests recorded in the Bible.
Use of beauty moves and a mix of pokemons beauty helps you win.
One person cannot degrade another. You can only degrade yourself.
They aren't
Yes and no. It depends on the definition of womanhood you use. if you are speaking of the physical design and use of the female body as an object (a tool used by the woman), no contests do nothing to the physical body. If you are speaking of womanhood more as a Jungian archetype then, yes contests try to put value judgments on things that woman cannot change, thereby esteeming one woman over another for aesthetic reasons.
Canada, as a nation, has never declared beauty contests cancelled. Rather, the Miss Canada pageant determined on 3 January 1992 to stop holding the pageantry contests based on the severity of feminist arguments against the pageant, as a degradation and objectification of women.
