Here are some contributor opinions:Please add any further comments to the discussion area.

Clamp admits to putting some very ambiguous relationships in their manga, but they scarcely put blatant homosexuality (like that seen between the shop keepers in Gohou Drug) I believe that the love between Kuro and Fay is platonic and meant to be deeper than sexual, gay or romantic love. It is the love between two men who have both come through so much and they share a spiritual bond, brotherly.

To say they are in Love could be misinterpreted, I consider it more deeper and complex beyond that. Most fan-girls cannot grasp that concept though (not saying you can't) and think it is a yaoi situation. Until Clamp themselves says one way or another though, both sides can do nothing but speculate, but until they declare it a canon romantic pairing I hold my stance.

AnswerI feel that the answer above is completely wrong. CLAMP does in fact put many, MANY blatant references to homosexuality in almost all of their works. In Cardcaptor Sakura alone, not only was Tomoyo in love with Sakura, but Sakura's brother Touya was in a relationship with Yukito. Touya gave up his magic for Yukito, and Yukito later confesses to Sakura that he loves him. Also, ever heard of Miyuki-Chan in Wonderland?? That WHOLE manga is sexual references to Yuri. Miyuki-Chan get trapped in world after world of sexual temptresses, losing her clothing more and more through every world. Also, in Legal Drug the shop keepers aren't the only gay lovers, the whole point of the series is Rikuo's and Kazahaya's relationship development.

Fai and Kurogane are pretty much inseparable by this point. Fai cannot leave Kurogane unless he dies, and once the story ends it's basically thought they will return to Nehon together. Though at this point CLAMP has not outright mentioned a more sexual relationship, just the notion of Fai being the "Mommy" and Kurogane being the "Daddy" is enough to give you a hint. Even if their relationship is more "Manly" and is in no way sexual, their is a deep love between the two. I feel that it is romantic love because of everything Kurogane sacrificed for Fai, and the true smile that Fai now returns to him. "From silence to smiles, an inseperable bond is formed" as CLAMP themselves put it.

When giving answers about Canon or not Canon, you have to put forth evidence, not just say it's a matter of fangirls ripping a stories credibility apart. Admittedly I've heard some stupid character pairings in my day, but this is a true blue Canon pairing, and I stand by that firmly.))

Lol funny question I'm kind a asking myself that too when i was watching, but i think that they like each other a bit but in the anime it showed that Fye (Fai) is in love with Chi sry I'm not even sure, but with all the things that happened yes i think that it's a gay love. LOL! thank you for putting up this question it's really funny when i think about those two together.

AnswerAt this point, only CLAMP really knows, but as time goes on it is becoming more apparent that this pairing is intended to be canon. In the anime it does seem to be hinted somewhat, but the manga goes a bit deeper than just hinting. To fully explain, this answer will contain SPOILERS for manga chapters up until 169.

First of all, Kurogane makes a deal with some vampires to save Fai's life by turning Fai into a vampire. The thing is, Kurogane is Fai's "prey", the only person Fai can drink blood from. Thus, they must remain together or else they will die. Later on, Kurogane also cuts off his own arm to save Fai's life, which speaks for itself as an act of great sacrifice and love. Then Fai trades the remainder of his magical power for a prosthetic arm for Kurogane. It also seems that Kurogane can best see through Fai's facade of constant smiles and bring out some real smiles once in a while.

As for Fai being in love with Chi; this is simply not possible. For one thing, Chi already has a soulmate of Hideki in Chobits. Also, I'm pretty sure Fai made Chi to look like his mother. The episode of the anime where he and Chi go on a date never took place in the manga.

To sum all this up, even if they aren't in love in a sappy romantic sort of way, Kurogane and Fai share a love that goes much deeper than any other pairing I've come across.

- - - - - - - - - -

If Fai is n love with Chi, that would be creepy because he made Chi resembles mother. It says in the manga. Sorry that's all I have to say, I know as much as you do if Fai and Kurogane are in love with each other. I hope so :P

AnswerFrom my knowledge Kurogane and Tomoyo are pretty much together, I mean it is shown quit plainly that they are at least very close, by the intimacy rule (no Honorifics), and what they have been though, Kurogane even says that he has only served under one person, Princess Tomoyo. Also just because Chi was made to look like his mother doesn't mean that they can't be together, she isn't his mother and they are very close to each other, Chi herself said She would do anything for Fai. I honestly can't see how this came about, yes Fai teases Kurogane but that's because he is so serious, and acts tough. And Kurogane has also grown to care about what happens to the "annoying" wizard, but they are not together, just friends. AnswerKurogane does use honorifics with Tomoyo. You don't seem to understand their relationship. The reason that Tomoyo can use his full name (You-ou) is because she holds name magic over him. When a person gives someone their full name in mythology a certain power is than granted to that person. Kurogane is loyal to Tomoyo, fiercely so, but he was also spurred when she sent him away.

Also, it would be impossible for Chi and Fai to be together. For one, Chi died with clone Sakura died. Two, Fai will forever be bound to Kurogane because of the blood contract. Even after receiving his eye back his is still a vampire and Kurogane is still his E. Chi would have to go live in Nihon with Kurogane and Fai.

Kurogane and Fai are canon, but if they were to ever kiss or actually confess their feelings CLAMP would probably kill them. Because that's just what CLAMP does.

My Question is way can't two guys just be friends, way does there always have to be some Gay-Love theme in everything?

I don't deny that two guys can be friends- think of the overwhelmingly straight population in this world- but this is a work of fiction. CLAMP made the characters that way because they could. There isn't a gay love theme in everything- CLAMP works are the rare point where it is canon. They have homosexual canon in nearly everything. I don't believe in forcing canon on stupid pairings. I suppose if it scares you enough to think that there is a "Gay-Love" theme in everything then you can ignore it and pretend that they are just really good friends. Who have to live together for the rest of their lives. And who have sacrificed limbs for one another. And call themselves "Daddy" and "Mommy".

AnswerI personally have to agree with the first answer. I am probably not as versed as you guys, nor have I been into the series for long as can assume the others here have. However, from what I do know at this point, I wouldn't place them as homosexual. In love, definitely, that can be called a given, but not canon. I might even venture that their characters were designed with a platonic philosophy in mind. Of course though, as I stress, I am a newbie and will submit to popular opinion

I think that basically Fai and Kurogane will never find other lovers. They will be together for the rest of their lives, romantic or not. Fai will never leave Kurogane's side, and will someday follow him to Nihon. End of story.

Could it not be a strip tease?

AnswerI agree the first and answer before me, I know that they are "stuck" with each other forever but Fai and Kurogane may just be very good friends that could truly sacrifice and see through each other's feelings but I don't think they are canon, even if they are, ;I just think that Clamp should give up all the stupid sexuality thing that's going on, I've seen card captor sakura and it's too gay for young people and even if they are Gay and canon, I just wish they aren't because I love Fai

It may just be Fai teesing Kurogane because he's too serious??

AnswerIMHO, CLAMP leave the story like this because, they don't want their story become yaoi. Not all people can accept gay relationship. Less reader = less provit. They leave the story canon and let the reader have their own fantasies. Yaoi fangirls can imagining what they want to happen to the end of fye and kurogane relationship, and the ordinary people can just simply think they will remain friends. there are REASONS why CLAMP make fye and kurogane relationship like that. The only one who knows what kind of relationship fye and kurogane have is you. CLAMP simply put their relationship mysterious, cuz they want you guys to have your own imaginary unless CLAMP make another syaoran-sakura with fye-kurogane series from another world. So in the end there is no exact answer for this question. You have your opinion and that's the answer. For me, fye and kurogane relationship just the same like Touya and yukito relationship. AnswerIf you read carefully, the words Two unlikely fellows cross paths, Is this a joke played by fate...Or an unavoidable destiny...

Now you all can take these words as you please, but I believe that these words foreshadow Kurogane and Fai's romantic relationship. It doesn't have to be about blatant sex or yaoi. Kurogane and Fai, in my opinion have a bond deeper than that. I mean, who cuts off their ARM for somebody who they don't love? I mean I love my friends but I don't think I would ever give up one of my arms for them. And Kurogane practically forcing Fai to stay by his side by making HIMSELF as Fai's blood donor. Those are not the typical actions for a platonic friendship am I correct?

I myself wasn't a yaoi fan until I read TRC. And I am not talking about the smutty yaoi kind either. I am meaning the deep, love like no other kind, of yaoi. Because there are many yaoi writers that don't just use the smut part. I personally feel that KuroFai is even more canon than InuKag. (Inuyasha reference)

Just take the thoughts above as a brain motivator. And please check out the link.^_^

AnswerI'm pretty sure that CLAMP did intend on making them into a 'couple'. Maybe not sexual, but they definitely love each other.

I can't think of ANY of their animes/mangas that don't have at least one homosexual couple. Seshieru and Subaru in Tokyo Babylon, Touya and Yukito in Cardcaptor Sakura and Tsubasa, Tomoyo in Cardcaptor was actually in love with Sakura (it actually had her confess in the manga and i think the anime as well not sure about the latter though) Doumeki and Watanuki in xxxHolic, Subaru and Kamui in Tsubasa (ooh Twincest lol) and if you read Legal Drug you won't need more explianation. All of those couples are at LEAST hinted at, if not given blatant canon-ship, and KuroFai I do believe is more canon than almost all of them.

A FEW EXAMPLES (TRYING not to leave too many big spoilers):

Kurogane CUT HIS ARM OFF and left his most prized posession to save Fai, and didn't regret it.

Kurogane REFUSED to let Fai pay his eyesight to Yuuko, instead making it so they'd each pay part of said price.

Fai used nicknames such as Kuro-rin. Rin is used to refer to a lover.

Fai told Yuuko that his and Kuro's relationship had "crossed the line"

There was also an interview in which CLAMP admitted to making a relationship between them.

And addressing the KuroTomo and FaiChi pairings, Chii is an ARTIFICIAL life form created in the image of Fai's MOTHER. Tomoyo ALSO resembles Kurogane's MOTHER. I doubt that there is anything between them more than friendship. Kurogane especially, i think it's more likely that he feels especially protective of Tomoyo because he COULDN'T protect his mother.

One last thing to add: All of the phoenix and dragon imagery. On many of CLAMP's drawings they show Fai as the Phoenix and Kuro as the dragon. Has anyone studied mythology before? The phoenix and dragon are supposed to be complete opposites, but the most dedicated lovers.

Oh and now I have to add something~

In Japan, homosexuality is generally more accepted than in America. So the above comment about how Card Captor Sakurais 'too gay' for kids is bullcrap. :DDD Do they kiss? No. Is it all up in everyone's faces? Nope. Besides, in CLAMP their shippings honestly only have each other. I mean, they can have more than one loves before BUT in each continuity and universe and such they still only have One True Love. For example, Sakura and Syaoran. This would also apply to Chi.

And Fai and Chi being in a relationship/going on a date is only in the anime and actually bothered CLAMP. Yes, I admit to having no life and knowing far too much about silly things but, hey, I'm not even that huge of a supporter and I'm not going to pretend it isn't canon.

AnswerContaining Spoilers

Kurogane and Fai's relationship is far too substantial to disregard, whether you support the pairing or not. People who say "they're just friends/best friends" don't see the chemistry between these two. I'm sorry, but they were never friends. They didn't trust each other until Nihon, and even after that, their relationship never revolved around trust. CLAMP themselves said that they have "an eternal bond", so that at least makes them heterosexual life partners. Please be respectful and mindful of other people's opinions. I'm not telling you to like yaoi or KuroFai. You can like or support whatever pairing you want. Just remember that they are definitely not "friends" or "best friends". They were fated by hitsuzen to meet and changed the course of each others' lives forever. You can't deny that fact.

"Possibly the biggest piece of evidence for this fandom: Fai is associated with the Phoenix (his tattoo, his staff, his kudan), and Kurogane is associated with the Dragon (his attacks, his sword, his kudan). If you ask any Asian person, they'll be able to tell you this, unless they're completely non-traditional and are so apart from their culture that they might as well be American. It's so obvious that it hurts. The Dragon and Phoenix form a pair of yin/yang male/female complimenting opposites in Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese mythology. They specifically represent long and happy marriage, not to mention that it's the ONE symbol used for the unity between a man and a woman. The Dragon symbolizes male vigor and fertility, while the Phoenix symbolizes yin splendor and female beauty. Standing alone, each symbol is hugely powerful. Put together, the Dragon and Phoenix is the symbol of ultimate balance and perfect feng shui. Together they represent a power-packed union of success, prosperity, friendship, love, and enlightenment. They represent fruitful marriage blessed with a great deal of success and prosperity as well as many offspring, and the beginning of a dynastic family. In some Asian cultures, they even use a dragon and phoenix candle to light a unity-type candle, to symbolize the merging of the two in marriage ceremonies. I've known about the Dragon and Phoenix ever since I was little (since I'm Vietnamese), but it never occurred to me about Kurogane and Fai until someone pointed it out. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY ASSURE YOU, four Japanese women who have been in the art of professional visual storytelling for more than 20 years are completely aware of this fact, not to mention that it's practically mandatory knowledge for the vast majority of Asian cultures. CLAMP would absolutely not, under any circumstances, allow Kurogane and Fai to be associated with the Dragon and Phoenix unless they intended for them to be in love."

This is the front cover image for Volume 3 of Legal Drug, one of the most blatantly homosexual works from CLAMP to date. The dragon-phoenix symbolism is specifically present here. There have been numerous incidents between Kazahaya and Rikuo, like the condom incident, chocolate incident, hand-holding incident, screaming-in-the-dorms incident, lap-dancing incident, sleep-in-my-bed incident, schoolgirl uniform incident, confess-my-love-under-the-cherry-blossoms incident, and the numerous people-think-we've-had-or-are-going-to-have-sex incidents...I could go on and on. Not to mention Rikuo constantly flirts with Kazahaya, whispering "You look sexy" and "Stop writhing all over me" into his ear. All of the below images are official CLAMP art.

AnswerCLAMP has officially stated that Kurogane and Fai are each others' fated person. And the fact each of them have repeatedly given up many things in order to save the other show the true depths of their feelings for one another.

And if you were to look back at CLAMP's many other works, you would realize that they have a reoccurring theme of soulmates and people over-coming many obstacles to be together.

The main reason for no out right confession is because Tsubasa was always meant to be an action/adventure story. Even Sakura and Syaoran, an obvious canon couple, never got the chance to come out right and say that they love one another ((though the clones did have a child together and wanted to be reincarnated so that they may be together)). This also a big thing with many of CLAMP's couples. Even canon ones hardly even kiss, let alone actually directly state their feelings.

So are they in love? Yes. Yes they are.

AnswerThis is very true all except for the part about Syaoran and Sakura. They did admit their love for each other. Remember when they got back to Clow? They were sitting up on this large stone plateau.Sakura started to tell Syaoran she love her but he stpped her so he could say it first.

Tsubasa Lover Says

While I have read many answers my question is why cant you sacrifice for your friends? The fact for me is I'd do all of it for my girl and guy friends. I love them all deeply but that doesn't mean i love them romantically. I have a stress disorder so i get (and stay) stressed and frustrated easily and no matter what time i call them weather it be 10:00 in the morning or 10:30 at night they're always happy to hear from me (or...at least they act like it) and for that i owe them everything because believe me i can get annoying when I'm stressed.

AnswerI'm not American, I'm sorry, I might have some grammatical mistakes, but I need to tell you my opinion.

I'm also a fangirl, but, I have to face reality. I love Fai's personality, (And Kurogane's as well) But I don't own them, if CLAMP tell us that there's something between them... it means there IS. because, Kurogane and Fai, are CLAMP's Characters and they can do what they want with them.

You can't hate KuroFai only because you like Fai or Kurogane, and you don't want them to be together because you want to keep one of them for you. You don't own them, face the truth. If they are in love, fine. If they're not, Fine. However, that's what imagination is for, right?

I support KuroFai, but, I respect others opinion, only if they're serious. Not some kind of silly-jealousy-thing.

I agree with a lot of you, Fai/Chii relationship is almost impossible... but it could be. Kurogane/Tomoyo-thing have the same possibilities. But we need to know the difference between Friendship and Love. We can be wrong, as we can be right.

I think Kurogane serves Tomoyo because of what she did for him when he was younger. They really have a Unbreakable bond. And the same thing happens with Fai, He created Chii in the image of his mother, He might have a very nice relationship with her... but I think it's like family love, just like a mother loves his son... And like a boy loves his mother

AnswerOkay there are a lot of opinions in here and I'd like to add mine:

Fai and Kurogane are deeply connected in an emotional way because of everything they've been through. I think the feelings they have for each other is romantic and goes deeper than just sexual I think it's a rather pure love and I truly think that they would do anything for each other.

Regarding Chi and Tomoyo I agree with the person above me.

Who is the partner of Tomoyo in Tsubasa chronicles?

Well.. Tomoyo's onesided love for Sakura is Canon. Tomoyo is single, will be single, and stay'll single forever in the name of clamp :] some people believe she's paired up with Kurogane. but we see Kurogane coming back with Fai in all universes again. So Kurofai turned canon too. Tomoyo's partner is Sakura.

How old is Fai or Fye D Flowright from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle?

Yuuko told Kurogane in "Tokyo" that he's Twice/thrice his age. Kurogane (in Horitsuba Verse.) Is 26 years old. so 26 + 26 + 26 = 78. But Fai is surely over the 100 years old. He just ages more slowly than regular humans. He then loses his magic powers completely later on, but this doesn't change much for he now has vampire blood running through his veins.
