∙ 14y agoIm not sure I quite understand the question, if you are looking for a synonym, in movie terminology the effect they are trying to create would be known as suspense, as in a suspenseful movie. A better descriptive word however would be tense. If you are looking to tone down your anxiety in Horror movies I would suggest herbal measures that reduce anxiety. One such herbal remedy is sutherlandia frutescens.

∙ 9y agoAt a scary movie you might get anxious about a lot of things. You could have a panic attack in the movie from being overwhelmed or edit the movie with an irrational fear of the dark or the creatures in the film.
