The horror movie you are describing is Paranormal Activity 3
The father kills himself in the boat because he knows that his son will continue to fish as long as he is alive. If the father kills himself then the son will be free to get on with his life, get an education and become anything but a fisherman. Remember that the son said he would fish with his father until his father died and the father said to him that he should remember this promise
Try the film "Hatchet".
The movie is called Mildred Pierce with Joan Crawford (1945)
Milo!
The only movie I can think of that has a 'ghost father' killing someone in a bathtub is The Grudge, but that is his wife, son, and cat he kills.
A sub genre of what? A genre can be called a grouping of things based on like characteristics. Therefore, in films, Horror is a genre, wherein the subset of films contained in that genre are scary. Slasher Horror is a sub-genre of Horror, wherein the subset of films in the subgenre are films that are scary and focus on a villain/monster/antagonist that kills or injures his victims with some sharp, slashing instrument. A poem could be considered a subset of writing, however, applying the word sub-genre would not be the clearest way to define it.
IT kills people
Oedipus kills his own father.
"people under the stairs"
The guy who the father left in the car (should have killed him when he had the chance) comes back to the house and kills the father with a sledgehammer, and then shoots the wife in the face, and then kills Cesar with a single shot to the head, and the stabs Isa in the stomach numerous times (I guess his gun was out of bullets). Crappy, eh?
I believe the movie you are thinking of is Scream.
