I believe Buckwheat- which is a type of Coal, was the sole Black character. He had unusual hair stylilng and it would puff-out with static electricity perhaps. He used the odd slang word O-Tay instead of the better known Okay. I never cared for the program as it seemed to be too-juvenile and played up the time-dishonored idea of an autonomous child society- Peanuts, Wee Pals, did the same but they were comic strips./ Little Rascals was live action. often it had an Underdog plot loine ( not the cartoon by the name) of us versus them- them being Adult society, which is not a good thing for kids to watch. Contrast the family friendly My Three Sons, Dennis the Menace, etc. Buckwheat was the only Negro character but there may have been others.
