LOL I had this exact problem. I had been friends with my best mate for about 7 years. He had liked the girl a lot before, not so much when i first met her (few months back). We started hanging a lot, he knew I liked her and she showed a lot of signs of liking me. I talked to him about it and him being considerate said I could have her since he wouldn't see her a lot, I see her several times a day. He said it was cool for me to ask her out (it really isn't "cool", it will devastate him but he won't show it). I told him I wouldn't ask her, but if she asked then I would definitely accept.
