The four main characters are all very differant Maureen is looking after her brother who is a 10 year old boy sniffing glue, she is a very gentle character. Sandra is more of a nearky character who doesn't try. Arthur has been shot by the IRA and he is fighting a case, and gets what he wants in the end and Tommy is just there. Kate is a worker there and tries her best to make the future bright for them.
