Why aren't cars made of stainless steel?

Many early cars were made mostly of wood, but these cars broke apart in accidents and long sharp wood splinters killed people.

Much work has been done on making cars of a variety of different plastics, to varying degrees of success.

It was used in the Delorean DMC-12( back to the future car).

Main reason is it'stwice as expensiveas steel used in cars today. Other reasons are thatit is harder to work with and paint.

That would make cars last way more longer than they do. That would be bad financially for the car industry.
