The yearly salary of a bartender can't be directly known because you must averagge in tips and salary together. [improved] That's true, but I've heard estimates of between 30,000 and 60,000 a year. My bartending teacher said he made 40,000 in the 1980's I believe it was 1985, when the IRS started to tax tips, as they found they were missing out on the higher percentage of a server/bartender income. So, these wages are discussed as little as possible, why is FICA taken from this income? It is not taken from AIG officers on their $1M+ bonuses, and that is the bulk of their income! And just what do they produce? A nicely polished desk seat! Most would say that bartenders avg anywhere from $20 to $100/hr, depending on where you work (city to city, bar to bar, a lot of variables). Good bartenders are personalities, not bottle whizs or concoction chemists (these skills can help, though)
