In the United States, 208v can be either. It is generally the voltage supplied by a 120/208v 3 phase system. However, using 2 legs of this 3 phase system is called single phase. I won't go into the reasons for that but just understand that 208v can be either single phase or 3 phase.

208 v three-phase is used in some properties in the USA because it provides a voltage of 120 v between line and neutral. An appliance might be marked as 208-230 v three phase because that is the voltage range it has been designed for.

What is the voltage for Sweden?

Outlet for standard electronics is 230 Volt , 50HzThe master feed into Swedish houses is 400 Volt three-phase , 50Hz.When 400 Volt three-phase is split in three single phases it becomes threesingle 230 VoltBigger appliances , e.g Washing-machines, dryers, stoves, used to be400 Volt three-phase, but nowadays most washing-machines and dryersare built for 230 Volt single-phase.

Why won't a 230-460 volt motor work on a 120-208 volt circuit?

Because its designed to operate at 230-460, not 120-208.

How do you convert 230v to 208 volts single phase?

A source of 208 volts can be obtained from any two legs of a three phase four wire 208 volt system. The two legs are classed as single phase 208 volts. The lead tags can be L1-L2, L2-L3, or L3-L1 all of which will give you 208 volts. Any of these lead tags to the grounded star point (wye) will give you 120 volts.

How do you obtain a 230 volts single phase supply from a 400 volts three phase four wire supply?

You can use a transformer to step down the voltage from 400 volts three phase to 230 volts single phase. Connect one of the phases and the neutral of the three phase supply to the transformer primary winding and then connect the secondary winding to get the desired 230 volts single phase supply.

What is the 60 Hz on a welder with the listed input as 208 230 volt single phase 60Hz?

60 Hertz is the frequency that the welder should be connected to, to work as it is designed to.

What size breaker for a 208 volt single phase motor that pulls 1.4 amps?

For a 208 volt single phase motor that pulls 1.4 amps, you would typically use a 2 amp breaker for proper protection. This allows for a small safety margin above the motor's operating current to prevent nuisance tripping. Be sure to consult the motor's manufacturer specifications for the most accurate breaker size.

Can a 380volt's 3 phase motor can be converted to 230volt's three phase motor?

Only if you want to damage it. "277" Volt 3-phase will usually mean 277 from each phase to neutral, and 480 from phase to phase. By "230 3-phase", you likely mean 120 phase-to-neutral, and 208 phase-to-phase. If you really mean 230, then you are probably NOT talking about a three phase motor.

Can you run single phase 230 from one side of 480 volt 3 phase?

No, you will not obtain 230 volts. From a wye connected three phase 480 volt supply, 277 volts can be obtained from one phase leg and the neutral on the wye connection. 480 volts/1.73 (sq. root of 3) = 277 volts.

How many Amps for 3 horsepower at 208 volts?

To calculate the amperage for 3 horsepower at 208 volts, use the formula: Amps = (HP x 746) / (Volts x Efficiency). Assuming 90% efficiency, the calculation would be: (3 x 746) / (208 x 0.90) = 10.69 Amps.

Can a 230 volt supply be reduced down to 208 volts?

Yes it can be transformed from one voltage to the other.
