Thyristor is used for Rectifiying and inverting the power supply in induction furnace. The parallel Resonance Coils (Current Control Furnaces) Control the Furance power up to 40% by controlling the firing angle of the rectifier inverter and remaining 60% controlled by inverter thyristor control. In rectifier they are varying the thyristor firing angle from 15 deg to 45 deg. (in sin wave)

The industrial applications of a thyristor are:To trigger a triacTo produce gate signalsto be used for controlled rectification
not a clue a A: It all depends on the thyristor. There are no calculation involved not until you look up the thyristor specifications and decide on the load of the thyristor then you may calculate or more likely choose.
Induction heating is the process of heating an electrically conducting object (usually a metal) by electromagnetic induction, where eddy currents are generated within the metal and resistance leads to Joule heating of the metal.induction heater including high frequency induction heating machine and middle frequencey heating machine. Induction heating applications for an induction furnace include induction welding, induction brazing, induction hardening, induction melting, quenching, forging, soldening, induction annealing and other forms of heat treatment. Induction heating is often used to heat graphite crucibles (containing other materials) and is used extensively in the semiconductor industry for the heating of silicon and other semiconductors. Induction heating can produce high power densities which allow short interaction times to reach the required temperature. That translates into lots of energy transferred into a material right now, with a very rapid rise in temperature.
before the invention of transistor, thyristor was used instead of transistor but thyristor produces more heat in the circuit and size is more when compared to transistor

Yes. It can be

allu will consume 570 - 600 kwh/ton for meltin in induction furnace in normal working conitions.
You can read how to install an induction furnace on various sites. A better way to get an idea of how to install it is by viewing a Youtube video which details a step by step process of how its installed.
Induction furnace capacity typically ranges from a few kilograms to hundreds of tons, depending on the design and purpose of the furnace. Smaller furnaces are commonly used in foundries and small-scale metal shops, while larger furnaces are used in steel plants and industrial settings for mass production.

Applications of Thyristor(SCR): it is used for temperature control of furnace, in resistance welding as line contactor and in heat control, in electronic ignition of automobiles, in poly phase rectifiers and inverters and in choppers etc...
The term "Forced commutation" is used when a thyristor is turned off using external components. If a thyristor is used in a DC circuit, when first turned on, it will stay on until the current goes to zero. To turn off the thyristor it is possible to use a Forced commutation circuit. The circuit creates a reverse voltage over the thyristor (and a small reverse current) for a short time, but long enough to turn off the thyristor. A simple circuit consist of a precharged capacitor and a switch (e.g. another thyristor) parallel to the thyristor. When the switch is closed, the current is supplied by the capacitor for a short while. This cause a reversed voltage over the thyristor, and the thyristor is turned off.
