Light travels exclusively through space or along optical fibres by the mechanism of electromagnetic propagation. Electrical energy can also do that, in which case it is called microwave radiation or radio waves, but it can also be carried on wires.

Electrical engineering specializes in generating power and electric signals anywhere, whereas mechanical engineers specializes in mechanical structure, engines, fuel power, joints etc. Usually one can't function without the other, unless you study both.

The relation between power and energy is simply that power is the rate of energy flow. This applies to any sort of energy, whether electrical, mechanical, or other, In electrical engineering, power is in units of Watts, or multiples of Watts, which represents the flow of electrical current times the potential difference in the circuit, thus power (Watts) = Volts x Amps. Note that 1 Watt = 1 Joule per second (this applies to any type of energy flow). Therefore electrical energy can be expressed in Joules, ie power (Watts) = energy (Joules) per second. However in electrical work we measure volts and amps normally, so this gives power in Watts directly. Energy is usually quoted as a multiple of power x time, so we talk of kilowatthours for example, this is a unit of energy, not power.

Only that work is done against different types of forces - for potential mechanical energy, against forces that act on a larger scale, such as the elastic forces in a spring, or the gravitational force; in the case of chemical energy, electric forces at the level of individual atoms.

What is the difference between a electric motor and a generator?

the difference between a electric motor and a generator.Motor- is a device or equipment which convert electrical energy to mechanical energy.Generator- is a device or equipment which convert mechanical energy to electrical energy.

What is the difference between energy conversion that takes place in an electric motor with the conversion that takes place in a generator?

In an electric motor, electrical energy is converted into mechanical energy to produce motion. In a generator, mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy by rotating a coil within a magnetic field. Essentially, electric motors convert electrical energy into mechanical energy, while generators convert mechanical energy into electrical energy.

What is the difference between DC motors and DC generator?

A generator turns mechanical (or other) energy into electricity. A motor does the exact opposite, turning electrical energy into mechanical energy (e.g. motion).

What are similarities and dissimilarities between a motor and an electric generator?

An electric motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. While an electrical generator does the opposite.

What is difference between generator and oscillator?

A generator is used to convert mechanical energy to electrical energy. An oscillator is used to convert dc to ac

The conversion of electrical energy in to mechanical energy?

Motors convert electrical energy to mechanical energy. Generators transfer mechanical energy to electrical energy.

What is the difference between a DC motor and a DC generator Why can't you use a DC motor as DC generator?

A DC motor converts electrical energy to mechanical energy. The converted energy is provided to a mechanical load.A DC generator converts mechanical energy to electrical energy. The converted energy is provided to the electrical load (voltage, current referring load).A DC motor can be used as a DC generator and vice-versa.

What are the difference between dynamo and motor?

A dynamo takes in motion and outputs electricity and a motor takes in electricity and outputs motion. A dynamo converts mechanical energy to electric energy while a motor converts electrical energy to mechanical energy.

Which electrical device changes electrical energy into mechanical energy?

The motor changes electrical energy into mechanical (torque) energy.

Is a windmill electrical to thermal or electrical to mechanical or chemical to thermal?

A windmill converts kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical energy by rotating its blades. This mechanical energy is then converted into electrical energy through a generator, making it an example of converting mechanical to electrical energy.
