When capacitors are connected in parallel, the total capacitance in the circuit in which they are connected is the sum of both capacitances. Capacitors in parallel add like resistors in series, while capacitors in series add like resistors in parallel.

A lamp is connected to a battery if a capacitor is inserted in the positive wire between the battery and the lamp what will happen?

large capacitors will become charged in a fraction of a second if a DC voltage is applied to its terminalsonce a capacitor becomes fully charge it acts as an open circuit to direct current in other words, once the capacitor charged by a DC voltage, the current will cease to flow in the branch of the circuit which contains the capacitor.a capacitor also offers opposition known as (capacitive reactance) to alternating current. it does not , however ,act as an open circuit to when an a-c alternating current voltage is applied.

Lrc parallel circuit?

LRC parallel circuit contains its component in parallel connectio. It contains inductor, resistor and a capacitor. A parallel circuit is a closed electrical circuit in which the current is divided into two or more paths and then returns via a common path to complete the circuit

Does a transformer contains capacitor?

A transformer does not normally contain a capacitor. However, you might be thinking of a 'd.c. power supply', which consists of a transformer, rectifier, and smoothing circuits. The smoothing circuits will contain capacitors.

What is a purely resistive circuit?

It does not contain unidirectional outputAnswerA purely resistive circuit is an 'ideal' circuit that contains resistance, but not inductance or capacitance.

What is a Wheatstone?

The wheatstone bridge is an instrument used to measure electrical resistance by means of balancing a bridge circuit. The bridge circuit contains two legs, one of which contains the unknown resistance. Variations in wheatstone bridge can be employed to measure inductance, capacitance, and impedance also.

How capacitors behave in ac?

1. Compressor 2.A fan 3.A gas, like freon, which vapourises @ a temp lower than room temp 4.The tubing/Piping An AC is a heat transfer operation. The gas(in the form of a liquid) travels through the piping and it evaporates very quickly cooling the tube. The fan blows air across the tubes into the room, now to turn back the evaporated gas into a liquid so that it can be evaporated again, it is led into the compressor, the compressor is basically a mechanical component, which squeezes the gas back into liquid so that it can be evaporated again, this happens continously, and during compression, a lot of heat is generated, which is thrown into the outside atmosphere. This is the basic working of any refrigating device.

How DC behave with Capacitor?

Capacitor contains a dielectric sandwitched between two plates. So, it act as a charge storage device. When dc supply is given,it gets charged to its maximum capacity or potential equal to the supply, and then it act as a open circuit, since it has no way to discharge.
