Capitalism has prevailed over communism because it provides individual incentives. The harder you work, the more you can get for yourself. Where as in communism, the essential philosophy can be defined by the Marx quote: "To each according to his need, from each according to his ability". Meaning every person should get what they need and every person should do what they are able to do. There is absolutely no connection between work and the fulfillment of individual need. This causes people to become lazy and do the bare minimum because ambition is worthless in communism. The ambitious men of society are made equal to those who desire nothing more than average. In capitalism, those ambitious men lay the seeds of growth and expansion. They do this primarily because they have something to gain. The bottom line is, it is very hard for an entire population to work for a greater good when they personally see little to no benefit. Their lives thus become a subsistence existence and society cannot progress and must inevitably collapse.

There's no fun in playing it safe. Why not try something a little unhinged?
