Taurine is the second most common amino acid in your muscles, next to glutamine. taurine is good for you and has plenty of literature to support its positive effects on cardiovascular disease and antioxidant function.

People believe Taurine is a "bad" substance for you as it is in a lot of energy drinks. Are energy drinks bad for you? Yes, that is because of the high amounts of caffeine in it (in all honesty though drinking one a day is NOT bad for you, learn moderation)

All in all however Taurine is not a bad substance to take, and you will not suffer any negative effects from taking it. So if you are worried about this being in your energy drinks and some sites may say it's bad for you, relax. It is safe.

IMPORTANT NOTE!

Taurine in most energy drinks only consists of anywhere from 5-50 mg. This is not one bit bad for you. HOWEVER there are some drinks such as NOS that one bottle contains 1000 mg of taurine. Taking such large amounts of it in at once is bad for you which is why some people claim all together it is bad. Just remember to drink energy drinks in moderation.

I just changed the Taurine content of NOS from 2750 to 1000 as I have a can in front of me. Not so sure The last sentence is correct now because maybe taking close to 3000 mg is bad all at once but 1000 might be safe? Go find a reputible source not answers.com which it looks as I just did anyone can change the content of a answer...
