Only the iPhoto software is replaced when updating to the new version; your library of photos is not touched.

Just insert the scandisk into a USB port. It will appear on the screen as an icon. Double click the icon to open the drive. Drag and drop the photos to the iPhoto icon in your dock. They will be copied to iPhoto.
