Isochizomers are such restriction endonucleases which have the same recognition sequence but may have different recognition site. examples are XmaI and SmaI which have same recognition sequence 5'CCCGGG3' but SmaI cuts between C and G and XmaI cuts between first C and second C.

Isochizomers are restriction enzymes from different species that recognize the same DNA sequence and produce identical or very similar cleavage patterns. This similarity in sequence specificity allows isochizomers to substitute for each other in various molecular Biology applications, such as DNA manipulation and analysis.
