I was a passenger on the SS Britanis, departing Southampton on 19th May 1974, with layovers at Las Palmas, Canary Islands and Cape Town, South Africa, and arriving in Adelaide on 15th June 1974. I can't help with a full passenger list, but I know that my own family (Terence and Beatrice Roper, plus three children Steven (myself), Fiona and Paul, a couple named Helen and Jay Massey, and another family, Victor and Angela Yeo, and their three children Gillian, Christine and Frances were all part of the passenger manifest on the May-June run, all of whom disembarked at Outer Harbour in Adelaide on 15th June 1974.
Notably during this run, there was a pilot's strike in force at Fremantle about a week before we arrived in Adelaide, which meant that the Britanis could not dock at Fremantle on this run. After standing off Fremantle for several hours, she got underway for Adelaide; the passengers for Fremantle were also put off at Adelaide, and were subsequently transported to Perth overland.
Hope this provides some help.

as far as i know, the ss britanis only sailed via two ports in Australia on that trip in 1974, the 1st port of call was Freemantle,Perth w.a, the second was Melbourne, vic. i was 6years of age, migrated with parents. we disenbarked Melbourne, in September. to what i remember of being told, it couldn't berth, or get into sydney harbour,it was to large. don't know if this is any help to your quest. Hi, I was on that voyage (number 18 southbound) that left Southampton 19 August 1974. After leaving Southampton the vessel berthed in Las Palmas, Cape Town, Freemantle, Melbourne, Sydney, then Wellington (NZ). I'm not too sure where it berthed in Sydney but I recall being told it went under the harbour bridge meaning that it would probably have berthed near Darling Harbour. FYI there is a display in the National Maritime museum in Sydney which includes includes items from the Australis. Hope this helps. I have some info from the voyage so let me know what you're after, I may be able to help
