The danger zone is on the gauge to tell you not to run the engine there.

Shut the engine off and allow to sit for a minimum of 1/2 hour before opening the hood or bonnet.

The coolant is hot enough to injure you badly if you get sprayed by a failure, and at this temperature it could happen at any time.
