Hi,
I work at the Monterey Visitor Center and when this question comes up, we usually tell people that it takes about an hour to get dwn to the Big Sur Village. This time will depend on traffic and of course how fast you are diving. Be careful though, because the road is very windy. I hope this helped!
Big Sur is located between the cities of Monterey and San Simeon along the Central Coast of California.
Monterey and Big Sur are approximately 26 miles apart. The drive along California's Highway 1 between these two locations offers stunning coastal views.

Point Lobos is about 116 miles from Monterey.
It is 248 miles from Santa Barbara to Monterey.
I work for the Monterey County Visitor's Center and some of the main attractions we like to recommend are the Big Sur River Inn Restaurant and Nepenthe which is also another restaurant a little further south. The Big Sur Village also has several eclectic fun shops. The main attraction on the Big Sur coast would have to be the views. After traveling up and down this state, I would have to say this is one of my favorite spots because of the unbeatable dramatic views. There is also the Point Sur Lighthouse which offers tours daily and several hiking opportunities. i hope this helped!
