could be this or that ,but get a can of wd & spray the emergency brake cable. it runs along the frame or front drive it runs along bottom of car then wish bones to rear wheels.
If that will not work spray WD inside rear brake drum. there should be a rubber stop pluged into rear drum. pull out rubber stop & spray line. If that will not help you ,you will have to pull rear brake drums off to get to cable.
My guess is the emergency brake is stuck.
Shift your car into neutral and use the break. Your car might break from over revving but it is worth the risk.
You should only use an emergency break if, A: Your breaks have stopped working or B: You are parked on an incline/hill
start the car and put in drive or reverse
He has a false leg, from a car accident
Partially engaged and you will burn you rear brake shoes/pads up. Fully engaged the car will not move.
lock the doors, put it in park, turn the lights off if they are on and put on the emergency break
The break down lane, shoulder, or emergency lane.
The brake cable(s) are frozen. You need to replace them. Trying to drive the car in that condition will damage what is left of your rear brakes.
Your emergency break will move without any resistance and will not hold your car in place when stopped.
Step on the brake and put the car in drive the brake will release
Put your foot on the brake, pu the car into drive and the parking break should disengage. if not, push on the parking break while holding the break in drive.
