It can. Symptoms of a blown head gasket are, loss of coolant with no apparent leak, possible engine miss, white smoke with a sweet smell from the exhaust, overfull oil level, a grey or white substance on the underside of the oil fill cap, & air bubbles escaping from the radiator with cap off engine running.
