Not really i work on diesels everymonth and i keep 12 vehicles up and runing and do service on 12 a month trust me its not glowplugs they all smoke but makes sure you wait little longer for plugs to warmup on cold days that may cause it to smoke alot. You might want to prime system 2-3 times (turn key on wait till light off and then turn on to prime) for fuel and for chainbers to be warm and then start it up.
Hope this helps. Trust points greatly appreciated.
:)
Possibly bad glow plugs.
If its a diesel then that's your answer. I have a 1983 240D and that's normal for that engine. Any old diesel does the same thing. My volkswagon diesel with 235,000 miles on it smokes on startup in the following conditions: 1. Below 10 degrees F (-10 C or so).2. Above that temperature if I do not run my glow plugs for the standard 7 seconds. Above freezing, if I run my glow plugs it starts first cylinder and does not smoke. If I start it without glow plugs, however, it belches black smoke for five or ten seconds.
corsa 1.5 diesel lumpy at start up with white smoke from exhaust returning to normal after a couple of minuets
glow plugs
White smoke at start up is due to moisture in the exhaust or on a diesel it can be normal due to the engine being cold.White smoke at start up is due to moisture in the exhaust or on a diesel it can be normal due to the engine being cold.
as it is diesel it needs glow plugs to warm up prior to start up,that is why you get the little squiggle light on ur dash, when that goes out you are ready to start it up...diesel motors don't have spark plugs...compression ignition.so if you keep trying to start straight away you will only end up replacing the glow plugs.
Hi there, blue smoke on a diesel motor is normally fuel, and the smell will be unburn diesel, rough start and heavy smoke that will disapear as the engine getshot.
A frail fuel line can cause a diesel engine not to start.
When you start a diesel you must know that it does not have spark plugs it has glow plugs therefore it has to warm up for about 5-10 seconds you can pertain to this by checking if there is a spiral lit up or "wait to start"both should be in your info center or near your odometers and gauges
If it is a diesel engine it could be the glow plugs.
Probably the Glow plugs (the diesel pre-heats) need replacing.
Because it is winter, it is cold and you have a diesel engine. They use glow plugs to help ignite diesel in cold weather. Have the glow plugs checked.
