The best choice is to REPLACE the airbags! The SRS airbag is a safety device which can save your life in case of an accident!
- Seat belts, also known as safety belts, are a safety feature that secures the passenger in the vehicle seat in case of an accident. Seat belts are part of the occupant restraint system that helps to avoid harmful movement of the passengers, which could lead to injuries and also protects the occupants from being ejected from the vehicle. - Seat belt tensioner work in conjuction with the airbag help to optimize the performance of the airbag systems. Maintaining proper occupant position reduces the amount of work the airbags must perform, and thus increases the level of protection provided by the SRS system. Keeping the occupant in the proper position minimizes injury due to the rapid inflation of the airbags.
The purpose of the SRS indicator light is to alert you to a potential problem with your front airbags. On cars with side airbags, this light will also alert you to a potential problem with your automatic seat belt tensioners or your side airbags or passenger's side airbag automatic cutoff system. If the light comes on at any other time, or does not come on at all, you should have the system checked by your dealer. For example: * If the SRS indicator light does not come on after you turn the ignition ON (II). * If the light stays on after the engine starts. * If the light comes on or flashes on and off while you drive. If you see any of these indications, your front or side airbags may not deploy, your passenger's side airbag automatic cutoff system may not work properly, or your seat belt tensioners may not work when you need them. For safety, see your Honda dealer as soon as possible.
not necessarily..
I guess you can remove the Fuse that makes the airbag work! Open the hood and you'll see a fuse box on the top right hand side under the hood. Open the Fuse Box and you'll see the Fuse Map under it. Check which Fuse makes the Airbags work. Find the fuse and remove it. This will stop your Airbags from working. But in the first place, I suggest Airbags is s good safety feature. Let it be the way it is!
Maybe
They slow the stopping time of the person because when they hit the airbags, they slow down until the airbags push them out again. They also give the extra distance for the person to come to a stop. This is the physics reason behind how airbags work.
go off in 2 stages
Fasten the buckles of the drivers and the passengers seats together -or- if that is not the problem - the seat belt warning is hard-wired into the safety systems of the car and cannot be disabled by pulling a fuse. Only a qualified mechanic that will consent to work on your car's safety systems and air bags will do this work for you due to the liability of their actions.
Disarm? the airbags. Unhooking the battery for 2 minutes will make the system safe to work on.Disarm? the airbags. Unhooking the battery for 2 minutes will make the system safe to work on.
wear your seatbelt... or if you injoy going throuth your windshield at 60mph, just buckle the seatbelt and sit on top of it... Douglejg: Well actually you can disable it... if your car has electrical problems like my 2000 wagon, and your sensor doesn't work at all, this wont work... But i just ripped the thing out and wired it together so it thinks it always buckled.... Here is what i found online: The second method, permanent deactivation: Before starting, make sure that: The partking brake is set. The car is in Park(automatic), Neutral(manual). The ignition is OFF. All doors are closed. The driver's safety belt is un-buckled. The parking and headlights are OFF. 1) Turn the ignition switch to ON, but DO NOT START. 2) Wait for the safety belt warning light to go OFF(1-2 minutes). Steps 3-5 MUST be completed within 60 seconds! 3) Buckle, then un-buckle the driver's safety belt 3 times, ending with the belt un-buckled. 4) Turn on the headlights, turn off the headlights. 5) Buckle, then un-buckle the driver's safety belt 3 times, ending with the belt un-buckled. After step 5, the Safety Belt Warning Light will be turned on for 3 seconds. 6) Within 7 seconds of the safety belt warning light turning OFF, buckle then un-buckle the safety belt. This will disable the Belt Minder if it is currently enabled, or enable the Belt Minder if it is currently disabled. Confirmation of the disabling of the Belt Minder is provided by flashing the safety belt warning light 4 times per seconds for 3 seconds. Confirmation of the enabling of the Belt Minder is provided by flashing the safety belt warning light 4 times per seconds for 3 seconds, followed by 3 seconds with the safety belt light off, then followed by flashing the safety belt light 4 times per second for 3 seconds again. After confirmation, the deactivation/activation of the Belt Minder procedure is complete.
Airbags are termed supplemental restraints as they work with a number of other safety mechanisms within a car or vehicle. They operate by a series of steps to deploy the bag, first is that activation of crash sensors which being the engagement of the airbag, second this sends an electrical current to a squib, or inflater that casuses the igniter fluid to over heat and finnaly expands the airbag to take the impact of the passenger.
