How much oil is in the radiator? just a tiny amount or a good thick layer? It's possible that they are leaking in to each other, but the sealed nature of the radiator means that the levels stay about the same in both systems, they just exchange fluids. If there is water in th oil system it may not be present when you inspect the filler cap as water has greater density than oil and would therefore be at the bottom of your oil tank. It may be worth draining your oil tank and checking for water in the oil as it exits through the sump drain valve. Alternatively take your car in for a service including an oil & filter change (not expensive) and ask them to check for leaks while they're doing the change. Whatever the outcome, it's not good to have water in your oil system as this can cause problems, but it's not such a problem to have oil in the radiator. But always best to find the root cause just in case its something more serious.
If you mean does the transmission fluid level rise, the usual problem is a leak in the trans cooler built in to the radiator. Depending on engine temperature fluid will transfer back and forth between the radiator fluid and the auto trans fluid changing the level and color of both.
Check your engine coolant level at the reservoir ( do not take a radiator cap off until the engine is cool )
Most of the transmission fluid is in the transmission and torque converter. The rest of it in enroute to and from the radiator. You can check the level with the dipstick located on the passenger side of the engine block toward the rear. Happy hunting. Steven
If there is a cap on the radiator you can check to see if the radiator is full , and if it isn't , " top up " the engine coolant . Otherwise , you check the engine coolant level at the engine coolant reservoir when the engine is cold and maintain the level at the cold mark
If your car has an automatic transmission, there will be a short dipstick near the front (radiator side) of the transmission. With the transmission warmed up (go for a short drive), park on a level surface, and with the transmission in park or neutral and engine running, pull the dipstick out and check the fluid level against the markings on the dipstick.
You don't mention the year , so I'm wondering if your engine oil level is going up ? I'm not a mechanic / technician but I've heard that a bad transmission modulator valve can suck transmission fluid through the modulator vacuum line so it goes into the engine
There are several causes that will reduce the water level in your car radiator. The most common cause is evaporation. Engine overheating will also reduce the radiator water level.
possibly burning it ,wrong radiator cap ,if it doesn't have a overflow bottle then radiator level is usually just below the neck it finds it's own level,is it blowing it out after shutting it down
The radiator of the car must be filled with water upto the brim, so that the engine will remain cool.
Having a leak in a radiator hose will have no effect on the engine running or not. However, in time the hose leak will cause the level of the coolant in the radiator to drop below a critical level and the engine will overheat.
Car on level ground. Engine warm- low idle. Parking brake must be working, Engine running, transmission in neutral. Check transmission dip stick.
Answer There is a dip stick at the back of the engine. Start your engine first, let it run and check your transmission oil level. You only check transmission oil levels when the engine is running, other oil levels have to be checked when the engine is warm to hot but not running.
