Magnesium is a highly flammable metal, but while it is easy to ignite when powdered or shaved into thin strips, it is difficult to ignite in mass or bulk. Once ignited it is difficult to extinguish. Magnesium, in its purest form, can be compared with aluminum, and is strong and light, so it is used in several high volume part manufacturing applications, including automotive and truck components. Specialty, high-grade car wheels of magnesium alloy are called "mag wheels". In 1957 a Corvette SS, designed for racing, was constructed with magnesium body panels. Volkswagen has used magnesium in its engine components for many years. For a long time, Porsche used magnesium alloy for its engine blocks due to the weight advantage. There is renewed interest in magnesium engine blocks, as featured in the 2006 BMW 325i and 330i models. The BMW engine uses an aluminum alloy insert for the cylinder walls and cooling jackets surrounded by a high temperature magnesium alloy AJ62A. The application of magnesium AE44 alloy in the 2006 Corvette Z06 engine cradle has advanced the technology of designing robust automotive parts in magnesium. Historically, magnesium was one of the main aerospace construction metals and was used for German military aircraft as early as World War I and extensively for German aircraft in World War II. The Germans coined the name 'Elektron' for magnesium alloy which is still used today. Due to perceived hazards with magnesium parts in the event of fire, the application of magnesium in the commercial aerospace industry was generally restricted to engine related components. Currently the use of magnesium alloys in aerospace is increasing, mostly driven by the increasing importance of fuel economy and the need to reduce weight. The development and testing of new magnesium alloys notably Elektron 21 which has successfully undergone extensive aerospace testing for suitability in both engine, internal and airframe components

If you are social you can have a chance of meeting someone through everyday activities such as attending a party, using public transportation, signing up for a gym membership or any other number of things. However, another pain free way to meet someone is by signing up online to dating sites. There are plenty of websites that are free, but some may require a monthly paid membership.

What does light metal mean?

Well, if it pertains to music, its like classic or jazz or something really soft like, not like heavy metal, as in rock and pop. If it pertains to actually metal, light metal is something like a necklace, bracelet, or earrings, something light and not heavy. Heavy metal is like steel poles or a machine.

Why are car bodies not made from a low densiy metal like magnesium?

Too expensive

At night what are the heavenly bodies you see in the sky?

They are stars that, like our Sun, radiate light. Then there are planets, like Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, etc, that reflects light shinning on them from our Sun.

Why bodies do not sink in the salty water?

The salt makes the water dense and the object must be heavier like metal or a ship to sink.

Why is a light metal like magnesium not used to make aeroplane?

You think probable to beryllium.

Why are your bodies not made from a low density metal like magnesium?

Well... magnesium is EXTREMLY flammable soo... would you like it if someone lit a match right in front of you NO!

What cause the flint in light to explode like a firework?

It doesn't explode it sparks rigid metal(notched metal) causes flint to spark when hit

What element is light weight but strong metal used in things like airplanes?

Aluminum. For some aircraft, a heavier but much stronger metal called titanium is used.

How does a mirror work?

When light hits something rough like a blanket, it scatters in all directions - like spilling sugar. But when light hits something smooth like a mirror, it comes straight back - like a ball bouncing off a wall. You can see yourself in a mirror because the light bounces off your face towards the mirror, and then straight back into your eyes.Mirrors are made from a sheet of very polished metal and glass. The metal is what you see your reflection in, and the glass is used to protect the metal surface from any blemishes.

What metal is a light metal?

Lithium is the lightest metal, but is too soft and chemically reactive to be used for the things most other metals are good for.Beryllium is the next lightest metal, but is too toxic for use near living things.Sodium is a relatively light metal, but like lithium is too soft and chemically reactive to be used for the things most other metals are good for.Magnesium is a light and strong metal that has seen use in aircraft and other lightweight applications, but ignites too easily and is too hard to extinguish for general usage.Aluminum is the lightest relativity nonreactive metal.

How do you oil a sword?

put a light coating of oil on all metal parts. keep out of damp places like a basement.

Is lithium metal light enough to float on water a physical change?

Your question makes no sense. If stripped down, your question looks like this: "Is metal change?" The answer to this question is obviously "no, but some change is metal, such as pennies or nickels"
