Because of the technology and the way our lives are set up now. As an example, in Roman times, you wouldn't be able to drive in your car to a McDonald's and buy a burger. You may have had to walk several miles to get to a city, and buy something from the marketplace. Today we have machinery that can do everything for us, and so we don't do much, and become lazy.
