remove the the bowl on the carb and clean with carb cleaner, be sure to clean the main jet. and the small holes in the bolt that holds the bowl on, if these are plugged the mower will start but not stay running
If you are talking about the bulb button it is a primer to get gas to the carburetor if the mower has not run for awhile. Usually not needed to restart a warm mower.
where is the primer on a murray 625 ex series
close to primer bulb... has cup shape design
The primer button on a Troy Built 650 self-propelled lawn mower is a black round ball. It is located on the right side of the mower just below the black rectangular fuel tank.

depends on the engine Briggs or tech, does it have a primer bulb. but safe bet right next to the carb.
yes, but do not have the car running.
Gas?Spark
Check the gasket between the air filter backing plate and the carburetor. Usually if that is sucking air then the primer won't work. Your best bet would be to just replace the gasket and possibly the primer bulb as well
4.5 mower will start and run for two seconds
Squirt a very small amount (less than a tea spoon) directly in the carb, then try and start.
