you've got a faulty switch which is located above the brake pedal.. or a short circuit
My 2000 Toyota Tundra Truck, the brake lights come on when your not pressing on the brake paddle. Not even even if the car is on.
Check the switch at the brake pedal .
It sounds as if you have an electrical problem that needs to be checked. You may even have the wrong fuse for your brake lights.
Out of adjustment. Adjust the mounting of the switch so the brakes lights are off until you press the brake pedal.
The good news is the brake lights still appear to work even when this warning is displayed. Does anyone know if the brake lights are at risk of not coming on when you hit the brakes?
This is probly because your brake pedal is going down for enuf to turn on your brake lights, deactivating your cruise. You can try adjusting you brake pedal adjustment, which is located under the dash. But unless you do this properly, you might end up with an ABS system not working, or your brakes having slight pressure, even thou you arent pressing on the brake pedal. The end result is that you can burn your brakes out. You can take it to a dealer, and have them properly adjust it.
In the back should be tail lights which always come on when the headlights or parking lights are on, and stoplights which come on whenever the brakes are pressed. The stoplights should be brighter than the tail lights, but they should be separate.
Because something's wrong, of course. What it could be... bad switch, break/short in the wiring, bad fuse or relay, or even just bad bulbs.. chances are, your car uses dual filament bulbs for the brake lights, where they'll function as both marker lights (with one filament active) and brake lights (with both filaments energized).
Check, or even better replace, the wires.
The best place to have your brakes replaced at would be Midas they would be able to replace both your brake shoes and even brake calibers if they need replaced.
My mother-in-law had this problem. Mostly in the morn when it was cold. Of all things it turned out to be her breaks were shot. She had her front and rear brakes were replaced and now the brakes hold the van still. Hope this helps.
A disc brake squeal can occur even when not applying the brakes due to vibrations between the brake pads and rotor, which can be caused by factors like uneven wear, contamination, or improper installation.
